Excels name box leaves a lot to be desired. When using long names the drop down list does NOT accomodate the text length. eg.

This can be annoying when working with very long defined names and can restrict you to less discriptive naming. Here is a work around to this that I have developed.

Now your Name box will display as:

If you have ever been annoyed with trying to read long names in Excels' nameBox then here is a routine that will change the width of Excels Name box.

The width will remain @ the setting for as long as the Excel session is open. Width is currently set @ 1/2 the screen width. I will look to fix this so that it will automatically be set to the longest text string.

The routine has been tested by Various members from the MrExcel MVP's.

Here is an untested amendment. testing done on Xl2000 / WinXp / Screen 1024 X 768

Please email me if you get different results - I will look further about the scaling factor I used.

At this point in time it works with the above settings (Screen resolution)
