Books are an intergral part of learning, BUT just one facit of it.
Here I'll give you Books that I think are worth while, not only because of their content but also because of what they try to impart to you and how they teach you. You may wonder why I chose a VB book, well thats because @ the heart of Excel AND Windows IS the VB engine.
Why not a VBA or Excel book ? there are plenty of those available online and I have not read these, so I can't recommend them. That is not to say that the ones I have not read are no good, there are many VERY GOOD authors eg. John Walkenbach. Also most of Excel (formulas etc) you can learn via the help files (F1) and actually sitting down and doing it, or learning online (by far the best way to learn when coupled with a good Tutor, book or training material).

- Any Book by Dan Appleman, in my opinion is a good book, definitely a must have author. Get this book if you need to take that qauntum leap forward in VBA programming.
- The best practical book on Excel with no useless filler. One that I have had the pleasure of reading and evaluating.
